Who’s in Control?
“I’m not in control. But I know the One who is.” (M.Puccini)
The Sacrifice of Praise
The author of Hebrews 13:15 tells us to offer ‘a sacrifice of praise.’ But sacrifices are costly. No believer in deep pain has ever felt like praising God at that moment.
Yet few things are as powerful against the enemy’s attacks. Worry, fear, self-pity and bitterness all weaken our faith or destroy it. But praising the Lord sacrificially, when there’s nothing in us that wants to? Choosing to do so strengthens our ability to trust Him.
Why? Because praise and worship causes us to focus on God’s great power and goodness. Which, of course, awakens our faith better than anything else.
Soul-calming Words
My fellow believers, do you need a calming mantra today? I have a good one for you. Here it is.
Jesus, I trust You.
Say this phrase as many times as you need to.
My Personal Experience
My throat felt clogged with tears, the first time I began to confess those words.
I said “Jesus i trust You” over and over, 10, 20 or 30 times. But I would have said it all afternoon if necessary.. Soon the fierce storm in my emotions started calming. Other words of trust and faith bubbled up. Certain Scripture passages and past memories of God’s personal goodness toward me surfaced.
In the end, my last “Jesus, I trust You” was full of faith and confidence.
My inner peace returned. in my heart, I said, “Jesus, You’ve got this.” and I believed it with my whole heart.
So how do you awaken your faith?
