The Safest Person to Follow
The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may avoid the snares of death. (Proverbs 14:27 RSV)
A Heavenly Safeguard
One of the key characteristics of someone who fears the Lord is they obey Him.
God’s a loving Father. When we follow in His footsteps we’re safe. Because He’ll always steer us past all the Devil’s traps. But we get to choose who to follow. That’s why in Job it says,
“…The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.” (Job 28:28 RSV)
To many people evil seems like a short-cut to get what they want, but it’s foolish.
