Be a Worry-Slapper

Be Decisive with Anxiety

Become a worry-slapper. Treat frets like mosquitoes. Do you procrastinate when a bloodsucking bug lights on your skin? Of course you don’t! You give the critter the slap it deserves. Be equally decisive with anxiety. (Max Lucado)

Vice-Stomping

I have a vice which I don’t tolerate in myself. When I detect a prideful thought, I immediately stomp on it.

The Holy Spirit began dealing with this sin when I was a newborn believer. I indulged inĀ  arrogance to compensate for my bad feelings about myself. Then the Almighty got to work. During my college years, the Holy Spirit punctured my ego while healing my self-esteem. Soon I learned how to apologize and began battling my tendency to exalt myself in my thoughts.

A new divine truth became rooted in my heart. I’m special because He sees me as special. I’m precious to Him. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit decided Heaven wouldn’t be complete without me there.

If you’re a born-again Christian, the same is true of you too.

My Spiritual Point

I believe as we start to trust the Lord more and become rooted increasingly in His sovereignty, we will worry less. It doesn’t mean our life will always go the way we want it to. Life on earth can get very rough. But if we truly believe He’s in control, we don’t have to be anxious. He’s got this.

We’ll become stronger worry-slappers.

We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 GNT)

Our God is in control.
