Evangelists Don’t Save People

I Can’t Argue with Ravenhill’s Words

Evangelists Don’t Save People

Evangelists don’t save people. Raising the dead isn’t an ability they possess.

Each time, true salvation is God’s miracle.

When a spiritually dead unbeliever is transformed into a Christian, his or her spirit comes alive. (Romans 8:10)

In the last 2000 years, thousands of men and women have been blessed with a strong evangelism gift. But not one person has ever been brought into the kingdom of light by a passionate Christian speaker.

It’s always the Holy Spirit. If He doesn’t supernaturally work in the unbeliever’s heart, nothing happens. God has to do the work.

Jesus said:

44 No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:44 RSV) Also see John 6:37, 6:45 and 6:65.

We only start seeking God because He first seeks to us.

The key is, we often can’t tell which people God is actively drawing. So never stop praying and stay sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s nudges.

You may even see someone rise from the dead.

Someone asked me, ‘Do you pray for the dead?’ I said, ‘No, I preach to them! (Leonard Ravenhill)

Leonard Ravenhill wrote a Christian Classic called Why Revival Tarries and his book is worth reading.
