Jews for Jesus

Continuing the Apostles’ Work

Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem., with the words, "Jews for Jesus established A.D.32---give or take a year."

This cheeky saying made me laugh, because it’s absolutely true.

In 1970, Moishe Rosen founded the modern day “Jews for Jesus.” This organization is dedicated to sharing with Jewish people everywhere the good news, that the Jewish Messiah has already come

Jews who have become believers in Christ frequently choose not to identify themselves as Christians because of their cultural heritage.

Instead, these Jewish believers are called Messianic Jews and retain their Jewish customs and traditions. They celebrate Jewish holidays, study the Torah, worship on Saturday and follow Jewish dietary laws.

Yet their heart, like Paul’s, is to draw other Jews to Jesus.

God Still Has Plans

Sprinkled throughout the Old and New Testaments are prophesies about the Jewish people during the end times.

In Revelations 7, an angel calls out a clear instruction to other angels;

“Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.

From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed,

from the tribe of Reuben 12,000…

(Revelation 7:3-5 NIV)

Revelation 14:1-5 later shows how special these 144,000 sealed Jews are in the Lord’s eyes.

Zechariah 12 also prophesies about Israel during the end times, highlighting God’s sovereign protection of Jerusalem and Judah. Verse 10 says “…They will look on me, the one they have pierced…”

Isaiah 19:18-25 talks about how the Egyptians will come to know the Lord. Along with Israel and Assyria, Egypt will hold a special place in Yahweh’s eyes.

24 In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. 25 The Lord Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.” (Isaiah 19:24-25 NIV)

Be praying for the salvation of the Jews. According to Paul, in the end there will be a great spiritual harvest. (Romans 11:25-32)
