A Challenging Truth
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth. (Ephesians 5:8-9 NIV)
These aren’t just poetic words. When we came to Christ, the Holy Spirit fundamentally changed our inner essence. We are now truly children of light, not darkness.
The Spirit who dwells in Jesus dwells in us too.
We’ve been ignited.
Therefore, if anyone is united with the Anointed One, that person is a new creation. The old life is gone—and see—a new life has begun! (2 Corinthians 5:17 Voice)

I chose to use the Voice translation for 2 Corinthians 5:17 because it helps us to think about a familiar verse in a deeper way. Here’s a quote from Google which explains why Anointed One was used instead of Jesus’ name.
Christ comes from the Greek word χριστός (chrīstós), meaning “anointed one”. The word is derived from the Greek verb χρίω (chrī́ō), meaning “to anoint.” In the Greek Septuagint, χριστός was a semantic loan used to translate the Hebrew מָשִׁיחַ (Mašíaḥ, messiah), meaning “[one who is] anointed”.
Jesus is both our eternal high priest and king. In ancient Israel, both were anointed.
