Getting Ready for Battle
Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil. (Ephesians 6:11 NIV)
As Christians, we often forget that we are fighting a spiritual war with the forces of darkness. We need protective equipment and a powerful weapon. Both of these the Holy Spirit supplies. Why should we clothe ourselves in the full armor of God? In order to resist the Devil’s schemes.
The pieces of armor are listed in Ephesians 6:10-18.
- Belt of Truth.
- Breastplate of Righteousness.
- Feet fitted with the Gospel of Peace.
- Shield of Faith.
- Helmet of Salvation.
- Sword of the Spirit.
My favorite piece right now is the belt of truth. Because the darkness and level of deception on the earth is increasing.
Wearing armor is great when we’re in a battle. But even more important, God’s armor will protect us during a sneak attack. That’s our enemy’s nature, isn’t it? He loves to strike us when our guard is down.
