Tugging the Father’s Sleeve

A Truth Misplaced

Men may spurn our appeals, reject our message, oppose our arguments, despise our persons, but they are helpless against our prayers. (J. Sidlow Baxter)

Do What Works

I was challenged a few weeks ago by a unique question.

If God granted all my prayers tomorrow, how many people would gain eternal life?

My answer was “Very few.” Because I concentrate my salvation prayers on family and friends, those I love the best.

Yet as an ex-atheist, I’m convinced of Jesus’ words in John 6:44.

“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me brings them. Then I will raise them up on the last day. (John 6:44 NIRV)
People witnessed to me in high school, but I shrugged it off. It wasn’t until college, when some evangelical Christians started praying behind my back, that my eyes were opened. They witnessed too, but their prayers had greater power.
I’m a  believer today, because these college-aged Christians prayed. Many didn’t even know me.
My Spiritual Point

It’s never too late to start over. I honestly believe praying for the lost is essential. I also have faith the Father will answer a prayer so close to His heart. After all, Jesus wants unbelievers saved more than we do. He loves them more deeply too.

Last night, I went to the drug store, then picked up some groceries. While shopping, I prayed salvation for several strangers.. I don’t know their names or spiritual condition.

But He does.

I plan to make this a daily practice. Even if I have to do it afterwards, when I remember.

Let’s join together to change some eternal destinies.
