Inviting the Holy Spirit
Maybe my problem is that I don’t want to think about the reality of Hell.
I send up occasional prayers for the salvation of my family and friends. But I don’t struggle enough against my own spiritual laziness.
Most of all, I think my heart is wrong. I don’t share Christ’s passion for the lost. I don’t cry out to God for strangers.to be saved. People going to Hell is not something I grieve over.
My heart is cold in this area, or even worse, maybe it’s lukewarm.
But I serve the One who can heat up my heart.
Ravenhill
A few months ago, I started reading a Christian classic by a man who had a red-hot passion to rescue people from Hell, and draw them into Christ’s kingdom. His name? Leonard Ravenhill. The book? Why Revival Tarries. During Ravenhill’s childhood, his church would host regular, all-night prayer meetings, and cry out to God to save the lost. The believers’ passion reflected Christ’s heart, and led to a great harvest of souls.
This man sounds like a modern-day prophet. Through his writing he calls Christians to repent.
My Personal Challenge
I’m not gifted in evangelism. I get nervous and mess up my words. I’m an intelligent woman who can’t seem to speak clearly when I try to share my faith.
Yet Ravenhill, a passionate evangelist who died in 1994, didn’t challenge believers to learn new witnessing techniques. Instead he sought to stir us up to sacrificially pray for the people who are dying and going to Hell.
The people in our society are lost in darkness; we can clearly see it.
Now is the time to shake the gates of Heaven with our prayers until God releases a soul-saving revival.
A Unique Harvest Field
Today we are seeing an amazing number of Muslims come to Christ. It’s never happened before.
For centuries, the followers of Allah has been historically resistant to all Christian outreach. So what’s changed? Simple. A few decades ago, some Christians launched a world-wide prayer effort to reach the followers of Islam. Each year during the holy month of Ramadan, Christians around the world pray every day for the Muslim people. The result? Muslims are having supernatural dreams and visions of Christ. Want to tap into some great resources? Go to the website “30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim World” This year Ramadan started on May 15 and will end on June 14th. Today is day 8.
