The Lord Reveals Himself
There are times when as believers we actively share our faith and strive to bring glory to God. Yet I believe our silent witness is far more powerful. The Christians who witnessed to me wouldn’t have had much of an impact if their lives hadn’t reflected Jesus’ nature.
Every believer is an unconscious witness for Jesus Christ. Just as a lamp sheds light, a fragrance lingers in the air and salt alters the taste of a dish, so the Lord reveals His reality to unbelievers as we live our ordinary lives.
Use me today Jesus, and you don’t have to tell me about it. (M.H. Puccini)
Light Shines through Us
The Holy Spirit shines out of us when we aren’t looking. He uses us to change a person’s heart—and we don’t notice. In obedience we return good for evil or apologize to a co-worker and God’s enemies are stunned; perhaps even convicted. All that’s required for a Christian to have a tremendous impact in this world is to keep following obediently where Jesus leads.
After all, salt doesn’t try to be salty and light doesn’t strive to shine.
In this meme, I ask God to use me, when I’m not looking. It’s been my favorite prayer for years, because I have an ego which doesn’t require any feeding. The Holy Spirit knows how to keep my heart encouraged without turning me once again into a pride junkie.
My Spiritual Point
The Holy Spirit gladly shows Christ’s reality to unsaved people around us, provided we continue to walk to Jesus. In Heaven we’ll be surprised.
For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing; (2 Corinthians 2:5) NASB
